This is for the glider addicts wanting a longer flight or for someone who wants something a little different. It can be a flight requiring more time such as to the Milford Sound area or to the Mandeville aerodrome to check out the Croydon Aviation Heritage Centre. Overnight trips to the Nelson Lakes aerodrome are also an option if the weather forecast looks favourable.
Talk to us and lets come up with a plan that works within your time and budget. As always, the weather forecast will have the final say as to what we can do. That’s all part of the adventure!
We fly most days but as gliding is weather dependent there are limits to what we can do safely. Your pilot will keep you informed of what is best for the day given the current weather conditions.
Don’t be put off by strong wind forecasts, as we like wind for good wave flying and we are often flying when other air activities are not. Calmer days, with good thermal conditions are also what we love. Always make contact the day before in the evening to see how the following day is shaping up regards the latest weather forecast.
In gliding, we circle a lot to climb in the lift. If you suffer from motion sickness or think you might struggle with this on a glider flight, we would recommend you take travel sickness tablets before you fly. We want you looking at the scenery, not the bottom of a sick bag!
Maximum weight is 105kg. Minimum age is normally 12 years old. Feel free to contact us.
Weight restrictions apply: Minimum weight 20kg, maximum weight 105kg.
Maximum passenger weight is made up by body weight plus clothing and shoes on the day.
Please note our cancellation policies:
If the trip has to be cancelled due to weather conditions, there are no cancellation fees.
Also a full refund if cancelling more than 48 hours before departure.
However, if you cancel your trip between 48 and 24 hours of departure, there is a 50% cancellation fee applicable.
Cancellations within 24 hours of departure, no refund.
No refund is given, if you are not turning up on time for departure of the trip.
A change of booking fee of NZ$50 per person applies subject to availability.
We appreciate you giving us as much notice as possible.
No refund given if exceeding the maximum passenger weight. (Maximum weight for gliding is 105kg. Maximum weight for hang gliding is 80kg from October to March and 70kg in April. Maximum weight for paragliding is 90kg. )
Gift vouchers are to be used within 6 months of purchase and are non refundable. Note: Prices and products vary throughout the seasons and valid gift vouchers can be used towards other season's products.
Participation in gliding / paragliding or hang gliding activities involves a degree of risk and Glide Queenstown cannot absolutely guarantee participants safety, although Glide Queenstown does do it's very best to keep participants safe.
You declare that you are physically fit and have no medical condition that could be affected by gliding /paragliding or hang gliding including motion sickness. Make your pilot aware of it if you do.
You release Glide Queenstown Ltd, it's management and staff of all claims in regards to loss or damage of personal possessions and / or injury. If you bring your electronic device onto the flight it is at your own risk.
Glide Queenstown reserves the right to cancel, reschedule or reorganise trips.
Glide Queenstown may refuse to carry a person for safety reasons.
You give permission to Glide Queenstown to use imagery you are included in for promotional purposes.
